Avalanche is a staked smart-contract network with sub-second C-Chain finality.

The Primary Network runs three chains: the EVM C-Chain most users mean when they say AVAX, the P-Chain for validators and L1s, and the X-Chain for assets. Snowman consensus samples validators instead of racing hashes, so finality is fast and cheap compared with Ethereum L1. Staking at least 2,000 AVAX makes a node a Primary Network validator. We list AVAX as a cheaper contract lane against Bitcoin, not as an Ethereum replacement sermon.
