Bitcoin Testnet3 (TBTC) on AltQuick

Bitcoin Testnet3 is the long-running public proof-of-work Bitcoin test chain.

A Bitcoin Core install still shipped a testnet wallet for years. Testnet3 ran for about thirteen years, was griefed with block storms, then deprecated in Core 28 and removed in Core 30 in favor of Testnet4. While building AltQuick we could not get whole testnet coins from faucets. Developers insist testnet has no value, and the chain has been reset before because people traded it. We still list TBTC because the legacy public PoW testnet is how a lot of software was actually tested — and because anything that can happen there can happen to Bitcoin.
